To provide meaningful, low barrier settlement support to refugees navigating new lives in Canada.
4 Years of Welcoming Refugees Home
From day one, our approach has been to build trust and identify how to provide safety, dignity, and a warm welcome. By listening, we created relevant programs and grew together with the people we serve.
Our model demonstrates that strategic early intervention with essential goods (laptops, grocery cards, household items) and curated, low-barrier settlement support is essential to unlock pathways of belonging and build stronger community connections.
In four years and with over 6,000+ lives transformed, Canadian Connections has evolved a crisis response into a new approach to welcoming refugees.
August 15th marks our 4 years of building the welcoming Canada we envision together. Write with us our next chapters.

How We Help
Our services target refugees who have just arrived in Canada, sometimes within days, and are tailored to each family we support. We establish a relationship built on mutual trust and then determine urgent needs.
We encourage self-sufficiency so that newcomers know where and how to find answers for themselves.

Building a Better Future for Refugees
We believe that early intervention is the cornerstone of success. We aim to provide essential goods and services quickly, often within the first few weeks of arrival to Canada.
This ‘soft landing’ gives newcomers breathing room to look at their options, to explore the education and employment resources we share with them vs being forced to take whatever they can to provide for their families, limiting potential and locking them into a cycle of poverty.

Our Impact
In its first 3 years, Canadian Connections has made a significant difference in the lives of refugees. We have supported over 800 families (6,000+ people), provided 300+ Chromebooks and laptops, and distributed over $75,000 worth of gift cards for food and household items. Additionally, we have donated furniture to over 50 families, hired 6 staff members (5 of whom are refugees), and recruited 15+ volunteers to oversee essential operational and programming tasks. Our efforts have secured $410K+ in funds and in-kind donations.
However, the need continues to grow, with 100 families currently on our waiting list.
