M.Jawad Yousefi

I am Mohammad Jawad Yousefi, the former Executive Director of Shuhada Organization (SO). I worked with SO for more than 13 years.

I have been responsible for signing project agreements, overseeing implementations, and engaging with local communities and actors to deliver health and education services, promote human and women’s rights, child protection, gender equality, environmental protection, anti-corruption, and women’s economic empowerment across 32 out of 34 provinces in Afghanistan.

As Executive Director of SO, I have partnered with numerous international organizations and diplomatic bodies, such as the European Commission, US-Embassy, USAID, UN-Women (5 years of partnership on Elimination of Violence against Women Provincial Commission) NZAID, AUSAID and Australian Embassy, the Italian Government (Bolzano State), Oxfam Novib, Oxfam GB etc.

In addition to my work with SO, I have spent the past 20 years as a human rights defender, collaborating and working with various national and international human rights humanitarian/development organizations, including the United Nations. My roles have included working with UNAMA in the humanitarian development sector and the Agha Khan Foundation on governance and capacity building for civil servants and civil society staff members.
