National Volunteer Week

Every act of kindness, no matter how small, contributes to making our community a better place. This week, we honor and thank our volunteers who have made a difference in the lives of refugees.

Canadian Connections invites you to join us in celebrating the spirit of volunteerism. We are a community dedicated to Welcoming Refugees Home and we believe in the power of unity and compassion.

Become a part of our mission. Connect, contribute, and change lives. Your time and effort can make a world of difference.

A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Volunteers

Canadian Connections will always put people first in fulfilling its mission to provide meaningful, low-barrier settlement support to refugees.

But nonprofits must compete for attention and money just like any other business. That means speaking to the right people, at the right time, and in the right language. Our core team of volunteers supports these key tasks in several ways: data entry, client support, and fund raising.

Collecting and maintaining accurate data forms our administrative backbone. It allows us to track progress over time and see which programs are working — or not. By understanding the impact of our efforts, we can better allocate our limited resources and maximize potential for making a difference. Data is also needed to measure success and communicate it with funders!

Our team of Data Entry volunteers are critical to documenting our work. They ensure that we record how every donor dollar is spent and the impact that has on supporting newcomers rebuilding lives in Canada. They help us demonstrate to you that we are a reliable and trustworthy organization.

Volunteers also staff our NEW Client Support Line! They take messages from newcomers asking for our help and make sure that the right person receives it. They call back to ask clarifying questions so we can create complete and accurate client profiles, helping us tailor our services to meet the specific needs of each family.

Our data entry and client support volunteers are all refugee newcomers. They are learning new skills and gaining important ‘Canadian Experience’ we hope will launch them onto a successful career path in Canada.

Charities rely on fundraising for their income, but it’s not just about the money. Our volunteer Fundraising Team also promotes our message and vision for a welcoming Canada, encouraging others to get involved and spread the word. Even in these difficult times, Canadians do want to help. Fundraisers can show you how.

Thank you volunteers for the fresh energy you bring to the work we do. Your enthusiasm and belief in our mission means everything!
